During the course of rehabilitation following ACL reconstruction most patients will require specific exercises to enhance neuromuscular control and dynamic stability training of the knee. The approach to treatment should be to break the functional activity into its component parts and challenge the neuromuscular system specific to that athlete's sport. However, gender specific considerations must also be integrated. Similar treatment principles to those used here should be equally applicable to patients with ACL deficient knees.
